About the Test

Type of vehicle

Any vehicle may be used for the test as long as it is roadworthy, taxed and you are licensed and insured to drive it. When you apply for the test you will normally state what type of vehicle you intend using. It may be a car, motorcycle or commercial vehicle (LGV or HGV), minibus, or a towed braked trailer or caravan. It may have any type of engine or transmission (including hybrids). At Worthing Advanced Motorists we mostly deal with cars and light commercial vehicles - if you wish to do the test in another type of vehicle please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Driving Commentary

A commentary drive is no longer a mandatory requirement of the Test, but you are strongly encouraged to give a commentary. If, at the beginning of your test, you let your examiner know you wish to give a commentary, he will tell you when to start and when to finish: it will not normally be for longer than about 10 minutes. For more information on how to learn the techniques of commentary driving see the Free Guidance page.
